Brynna and Sean’s Redwoods Golf Course Wedding was one for the books. Seriously. Such an insanely fun, beautiful, and emotion filled day. Here’s the story:
Brynna and Sean are both helpers at heart: Brynna works as a nurse and Sean works as a firefighter. They went to high school together, but didn’t date until a few years later. Their romance started over a Tim Horton’s coffee date where they spent the night swapping work stories, and from there an unreal relationship developed.
Right from the get go Brynna and Sean were excited and so invested in planning an incredible and fun filled wedding day. Every time we got together to plan Sean would say Prepare to have so much fun. Seriously. Our wedding is going to be awesome. And he was totally right, because it was an incredible day.
Brynna and Sean’s wedding was on a seriously hot Saturday in June. I’m talking smoking hot, like 36 degrees or some nonsense like that. The sun was already frying the lower mainland as I arrived at Brynna’s parents house to photograph the girls getting ready, but as soon as I walked into the house I was swept up in the giddiness and joy of the day and I totally forgot about the heat. Everyone was truly invested in the day: the bridesmaids were all giggling, Brynna’s dad was running around the house with a camcorder, her mom was chatting and laughing with everyone, and Brynna was an excited and nervous ball of laughter.
Sean and his groomsmen started the morning off in Fort Langley with a hot shave at the fort langley barber. One at a time the groomsmen jumped in the barber’s chair, and as I culled through my second shooter’s images from that morning I could see Sean’s excitement building in the photos. Sean, already an outgoing and positive guy starts to laugh louder, smile even wider, and fidget with his clothing more often as the excitement and nerves kick in.
Brynna and Sean opted to have a first look, and I cannot express how deeply I love this option. It gives a couple an intimate moment together before the ceremony to take everything in and connect before they commit to one another for the rest of their lives. These moments are so full of emotion, excitement, and they’re so real. Sean was crying happy tears before he’d even turned around to see Brynna for the first time, and let me tell you that when he did see her, the damn broke. Both of them were laughing and crying at the same time, and it was incredible to witness a couple so overcome with joy and excitement on their wedding day. They took a few moments together, the tears dried, the laughter continued, and then the wedding party arrived.
Brynna and Sean chose to have their bridal and wedding party photos split between Derby Reach and Fort Langley, with a pitt stop at Blacksmith Bakery to refuel. The temperature hit 36 degrees around noon but the wedding party powered through, and just like I’d seen in the morning, everyone showed nothing but support and excitement for the day. We photographed part of the portraits along a beautiful path at Derby Reach, and then the rest of the photos at this wicked little alley in Fort Langley that is full of character and diverse foliage and structures.
And at 3pm it was time for a wedding! Redwoods Golf Course has a lovely ceremony area, and gorgeous dappled light poured in as the guests took their seats. Next came Sean and the groomsmen, and in no time at all Brynna was walking down the isle towards her future husband. The ceremony was filled with laughter, a few more tears, oh and a selfie or two. And then they were husband and wife!!
It was a pleasure to be apart of Brynna and Sean’s day, and I know this post doesn’t even begin to cover the hilarity, joy, and love that was their wedding, but I can say that I loved every single second of it. Congrats Brynna and Sean, and thank you for inviting me to be apart of your day. I cannot wait to see where your marriage takes you!
