Sarah and Kyle’s Alberta Farm Wedding Photos hold a special place in my heart. Their’s was a true farm wedding, complete with a red barn, tractors, and fields as far as the eye can see.
As I drove East from Edmonton and the land flattened out a little more, my excitement for that Saturday’s wedding grew. Sarah & Kyle are two truly kind and incredible people, and their two sons are incredibly adorable. Give Sarah a guitar, and watch magic happen. Peek around a corner and watch Kyle talking with their two boys: magic. As I got closer to the farm I thought about these things, and how privileged I was to document their wedding day.
Adorable hand made signs started popping up as I travelled down a range road towards the farm, and as I finally arrived and drove down the laneway I could see that the day was already unfolding. The girls were in the house getting ready, the boys were putting the finishing touches on the tent and ceremony site, and RV’s filled the back half of the yard as relatives poured out of them and warmly greeted one another.
And then we were truly off to the races.
Sarah and Kyle exchanged their vows in front of a beautiful red barn witnessed by their friends, family, and gorgeous boys under the warm August sun. We captured their bridal portraits in front of time weathered farm trucks, in the open canola fields, and around the farm yard. It was hilarious, chaotic, and beautiful. During the reception I could barely photograph the speeches because I was laughing so hard, and I was obsessed with their adorable cake table and DIY table decorations. Sarah danced with each of her brothers for the father daughter dance which was so heart warming, and check out the bouquet and garter tosses. Seriously the best competition and heckling I’ve ever seen.
I loved every second of this day. I loved the struggle of hanging the wedding dress without harming it, and laughing with the bridesmaids who helped me. I loved the familiar faces and the sweltering heat. I loved the six million farm kittens and the little suits Owen and Riley wore. I loved how easy it was to photograph Sarah and Kyle, they’re so natural and so in love. I loved the canola fields and the bales of hay. I loved the speeches and how hilarious everyone was. I loved how many times I saw Sarah and Kyle laugh together.
It was such a good day. And as I drove away in the pitch black of the quiet Albertan night and turned onto Hwy 16, all I could think about was how lucky I was to have been apart of this day. Thank you Sarah and Kyle for allowing me to photograph your day and witness so many of your beautiful moments. It was a trip I’ll never forget.
