Amy and David’s Victoria wedding at Fort Common was one for the books. The weather, the couple, the guests, the team that put it all together. It was truly a beautiful day and I was SO thrilled to be apart of the vendor team.
Amy and David were married on a warm September afternoon, in a church very close to David’s family’s heart, surrounded by their loved ones. I didn’t know it at the time but we actually set up family photos right in front of David’s grandparent’s old house and I was totally surprised when they let me know. It had this lovely picket fence and perfect back lighting, it was a beautiful spot and had such a warmth to it. I instantly fell in love with the location.
Prior to the ceremony we’d captured photos of the bridal party up at Mount Tolmie both right on top of the mountain and then further down the hillside among the trees and tall, tall grass. September was so good to us, the light was so golden and warm, and A+D’s wedding party were so cute and wore such lovely colours. The girls were giggly and sweet, and the guys were dapper and total gentlemen.
After the ceremony, during the reception, everyone laughed and shared each course, passing plates back and forth and clapping each other’s backs. If you hold your wedding at Fort Common you’re picking a venue that is literally built for creating connections. Honestly family style tables and meals at weddings are where it’s AT. Setting up a reception like this encourages people to mingle and share, and it’s such an amazing way to create a connection between your guests no matter what the size of the guest list is.
If every wedding I photographed was held in Victoria at the Fort Common I would be 100% content. It’s in a great part of the city, hidden away from the hustle and bustle and when you walk into the courtyard it takes your breath away. The team that worked together on this wedding was INCREDIBLE. I’m talking all the right people in all the right places. Glorious florals, hanging lights, wooden family style tables, flowing garlands, plush furs, and deep blue accents all came together to create an intimate environment that was nothing but magical.
Check it all out below, and including the amazing team that pulled it all together!
