Travelling to Portland to photograph Whit & Court’s Oregon Farm wedding photos was such an amazing adventure. I love Portland, it’s such a cool city, so to be able to spend time there as well as on a beautiful family farm with wonderful people meant that I was a seriously happy girl.
Whit and Court’s wedding day was smoking hot, maybe the warmest weather I shot in all summer, so I’m not going to lie when I say I was a little bit worried about beating the heat and keeping everyone cool. Turns out I had nothing to worry about because the Monroe Farm where they were married was full of gorgeous greenery, rolling hills, and a nice little breeze moving in from the ocean. It was still crazy hot but it was bearable.
The morning started with the boys getting ready in the barn, and the girls getting ready in the farmhouse, and when the bow ties were in place, and the dresses were on, it was time for the first look. Whit and Court 4×4’d (yes I said 4×4’d) down to a little clearing that offered up some gorgeous open shade so they could have a quiet moment together and see each other for the first time on their wedding day.
The first look was super cute: Whit and Court were calm and collected, but still buzzing with excitement. They were laughing as they took each other in, and they were playful and goofy while we took some photos of just the two of them. And then the cavalry rolled in.
The wedding party pulled up in a few trucks (I’m talking like f350’s… not small vehicles) and poured into the clearing outfitted in cute orange bowties, tiffany blue dresses, white converse, and matching nike runners (Whitney gifted each of her bridesmaids a brand new set of Converse, and Court gave the guys Nikes). It was hilarious and organized chaos, with huge personalities and little munchkins running around. And if you know anything about me you’ll understand that I was truly having the time of my life.
When the group photos were done we headed up to the barn (honestly, it’s not even a barn. It’s like a barn/lodge situation and it was SO cool) for the ceremony. Whit and Court were married overlooking fields and rolling hills, surrounded by friends and family. It was such a happy, laughter and joy filled ceremony.
And then the party started. The reception was fun and relaxed, and I cannot begin to tell you how incredible the wedding guests were. Whit and Court know some amazing people, which is not surprising because they themselves are amazing. They are kind, generous, and welcoming, and that’s exactly what their guests were like: super funny, inviting, generous, and really easy to chat with. I had the time of my life.
And the dance was wild. SO.MUCH.FUN. Young and old, everyone was up and ripping up the dance floor. It was probably one of my favourite wedding dance parties ever. I’m talking kids getting flipped over heads, breakdancing, line dancing. You name it, it probably happened. I never wanted the night to end.
Congrats again Whit and Court, you’re a gorgeous couple and your wedding day was beautiful. Thank you for inviting me along on the adventure, I will never forget how lovely, fun and a little bit rowdy your day was.
XO,
Megs
